It wouldn't be Need for Speed: Most Wanted without a police chase. To top it all off, each event includes post-race stills that match the in-game rewards system. Each scene is beautifully edited to include a loading screen, pre-race camera angles, a countdown, and even a mock tachometer. Another race includes a Ford Mustang, Volkswagen GTI, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII. After a short point-of-view stint, the BMW picks up a race against a few other period-correct cars, including a silver MK4 Toyota Supra, black Porsche Cayman, and gray Mazda RX-8. If the player finds a new car, he/she just needs to park next to it to automatically switch from the current car to the new one. You're thrown into following the car's third-person camera perspective. It is possible to switch a car at anytime, including during pursuits.

For the first time in Need for Speed history, all of the cars will be available from the start, hidden in different locations throughout Fairhaven the player will have to discover them in order to unlock them. The cars can be altered with performance upgrades, such as paint colours, wheels, suspensions, engine, nitrous, and bodywork. Most Wanted has a range of real-world vehicles, a mix of muscle cars, street racers and exotics, described as "the wildest selection of cars yet". The driving model of the game has been described as "deep, physical and fun", not as arcade-styled as the Burnout series and Hot Pursuit, but far from a simulator. The Blacklist is also back but this time there are only 10 blacklist members, as opposed to the 15 in the original Most Wanted. There, the players can take part in races, cop chases, stunts, or simply roam around. Like in the original Most Wanted, players will have an open-world setting, this time a city called Fairhaven. Most Wanted 2012 was officially announced during EA's press conference at E3 2012, and it was revealed by EA that this isn't a remake of the original game, but a modern sequel. This game is not to be confused with the original Need For Speed: Most Wanted, which was released in 2005, even though both games share the same name.
